Anxiety
Anxiety is a general terms for nervousness, fear, apprehension, and worrying. Anxiety effects how we feel and and manifests itself in psychological and physical symptoms. Mild anxiety is vague and settling, while severe anxiety can be extremely debilitating.
People often experience a general state of worry or fear before confronting something challenging such as a test, public speaking or interview. These feelings are normal. Anxiety is considered a problem when symptoms interefere with a person's ability to sleep or otherwise function at home or work. Generally speaking, anxiety occurs when a reaction is out of proportion with what might be normally expected in a situation. Examples of symptoms are:
- Trembling
- Churning stomach
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Headache
- Backache
- Heart palpitations
- Numbness or "pins and needles" in arms, hands or legs
- Sweating/flushing
- Restlessness
- Easily tired
- Trouble concentrating
- Irritability
- Muscle tension
- Frequent urination
- Trouble falling or staying asleep
- Being easily startled
A Cognitive-behavioral Therapy Approach
Cognitive-behavioral therapy is widely accepted as an effective,
evidence and empiricism-based treatment for many disorders including
depression and anxiety.
Cognitive-behavioral therapy encourages people with depression
and anxiety to learn the skills to identify, challenge and self correct
their negative views.
Clinical Hypnosis
Hypnosis is a person's choice to explore an internally-focused
awareness facilitated by a therapist. It is a relaxed, hyper-suggestible
state that allows you to consider new strategies outside of routine
strategies which may have become less effective or obsolete. It is
a tool to magnify a clinical approach; and it is a way for people to
amplify their own capacities for change by magnifying personal resources.
It is empowering.

will doesn't have anywhere to go but around and around." -

Pain management*
Clinical studies have demonstrated the positive effect
of hypnosis on pain reduction. The three most common pain-related
benefits are:
- Pain reduction
- An increased
sense of control over pain
- Acquisition of a new option or tool
for pain management
GROUPS
Striking a Balance on Frustration Tolerance
Having too much tolerance for highly frustrating situations can result in not appearing to be easily irritated, but you are and are often disappointed in others. You describe yourself as having a long fuse. Low frustration tolerance is when you do not cope well with even the most minor frustrations. You describe yourself as having a short fuse. In both cases,it can be specific to a particular situation or a global response. This group's objective is to suggest a balance between the two and exploring the skill of both assertivesness and tolerance.450) 328-0214
Self-hypnosis and Creating a Positive Expectation for the Future
Clinical Hypnosis helps to reduce stress and anxiety by switching off the 'stress response' and switching on the 'relaxation response'. It helps people think, feel and behave in ways that are calmer and more beneficial in their daily lives. This is because hypnosis inherently uses many relaxation techniques, which reduce stress, fear and worry both physically and mentally. These techniques include: deep relaxation, suggestibility and positive imagery. The objective of this group is to teach self hypnosis for self-care.
Everyone can learn to draw, but not everyone will be an
artist. Everyone can learn to speak another language,
some will just be more eloquent. In partnership
with an experienced French
language instructor, hypnosis
is used to reduce anxiety and barriers related to learning
a new language.
* All pain management cases must include the cooperation of your
doctor. Hypnosis for pain management benefits some not all.
